Your battery needs conditioning which will occur with regular usage. Battery manufacturer recommends 4 charge - discharge cycles. You will notice longer charge times with more usage and proper run times as well.
Probably not! It is imperative that the battery is charged because if the voltage drops your amps increase which creates excessive heat. Let the motor cool down, make sure your battery is charged and keep running it.
We highly recommend a "smart" charger, chances are if you currently own a car charger this is a smart charger. There are many good brands available at well sorted auto stores/ mass merchandisers. I personally use a Schumacher Speed charge 2-4-6 for my small batteries. but any brand name will do the job! I would shy away from the real "bargain ones" found at places such as Harbor Freight!
Your "drag" mechanism has worked its way loose. Due to the acceleration of the motor this can happen. Simply tighten the "star" wheel towards the reel again and you will start to retrieve the line again. A good tip is to check this before you run your first dog of the day and then check it regularly during usage.
Nothing, check the voltage to make sure you have enough juice in the battery, then check the reel for a loose "star" drag see point above. It could be that your lure is too heavy or that the line has snagged on one of the pulleys or some stout weed out on the field. The box is capable of 40 MPH and will outrun all dogs.!

The minimum equipment you need will vary depending your field you run on. Usually it is the following items.
-
Motor(s)
- battery(ies)
- drive wheel
- string
- 10-15 pulleys
- charger large
- generator
- cables, tools
I can not stress the importance of keeping connections clean and snug as this will cure most ills in an electrical system. Since we are using the motors beyond their designed purposes their weaknesses will show quickly. Running a minimum 4 gauge cable as the powerfeed is critical as well.
Don't substitute the micro switch for the local auto store supplied "starter button" . Microswitch actually prevents fly back voltage which occurs everytime you open and close an electrical circuit, in our case the solenoid. Arcing can and will occur which will shorten the life span of the solenoid parts.
