Portable Coursing System.

ISSUES!
1: we don't have 1+ acre to spare where the dog can chase natural prey.
2: Ok, you have 1+ acres, but the dog finds the shady spot and naps all day.
3: Could not muster sacrificing "pet bunnies" to chase in the park. (not popular with PETA)
4: Dog is weak , does not move properly in the show ring, will walk to starbucks for muffins though.
5: Dog is bouncing off the walls at home, tearing up your favorite beanie baby collection. (after starbucks)
Bike training them is great but a bit dangerous with traffic and not very friendly to the joints, this we will leave for the herding breeds which are designed to run for 24hrs a day.
SOLUTIONS!
we needed something that gave the dog's incentive to run that could easily be carried to the local park (please check your local laws to make sure you are in compliance) and be setup quickly and operate quietly. Another words a portable coursing system. I have lure operated and judged many coursing trials and it is simply not effective to bring the setup to the park and string up line , batteries, charger, pulleys and all other associated items, not to mention the danger of the other park attendants getting caught in the line and injuring them selves.
So what we have done is designed

This system takes 0 seconds to setup if you want to run a straight race. Simply flip the lever and drag the line out,( 300 yards for this particular design). For straight racing you would need 2 persons (which we recommend anyway) since the dogs might decide to go chasing other things in the park. One person would operate the Grimner portable coursing system and the second person would release the dogs. Repeat the process until you are satisfied.
Even better , if you are alone or do not have access to a helper, setup up a small course using pulleys ( no more than 90 degree corners) , you can make left or right turns to your hearts content but we recommend using no more than 4 pulleys to form a "loop". Now you can release the dog and operate the machine at the same time. Before you know it all of your friends will call you and ask " when can we meet to practice run the dogs?"
